About The Project

Protecting Our Elders from Abuse & Neglect

Kapwa Kalinga is a community-driven collaboration dedicated to raising awareness about elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation in the Filipino American community. Inspired by the Filipino value of kapwa—our shared responsibility to care for one another—we bring together advocates, healthcare professionals, caregivers, community leaders, and concerned individuals committed to protecting our elders.

We aim to empower families, caregivers, and professionals with the knowledge and resources needed to recognize abuse, take action, connect vulnerable seniors to help, and when necessary, in seeking justice.

OUR VISION

We believe that when we stand up for our elders, we stand up for who we are.

Elder abuse and neglect strike at the heart of our values: Respect for elders, care for our families, and responsibility for our community. Through this initiative, we aim to bring these realities to light:

Who We Serve

Kapwa Kalinga focuses on elders and those closest to elder care. This includes family caregivers—often unpaid and balancing multiple responsibilities—who provide daily support to their loved ones. We also support professional caregivers such as CNAs, home health aides, and nurses, many of whom face demanding working conditions while carrying the emotional weight of caring for others.

In addition, we serve Filipino families who want to better understand how to protect their elders, recognize warning signs, and navigate difficult situations with confidence and clarity.
